NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — As many are traveling and out of town while school is still out for the summer, there are fewer willing to donate blood, but the need continues to rise.
According to Middle Tennessee blood supplier Blood Assurance, the period of time from Memorial Day to Labor Day is known as the 100 deadliest days of summer, due to an increase in fatal car crashes. This period is also when the Blood Assurance supply of donated blood is at its lowest.
