There’s a certain kind of luck in being stuck in traffic behind a truck full of first responders. Not the kind of luck anyone hopes for, exactly, but the kind that matters when things go sideways on the highway. That’s basically what played out on a ramp connecting I-35W to Highway 287 in far north Fort Worth, where a multi-vehicle crash left one car pinned between a truck and a concrete barrier.
A group of Wise County first responders happened to be driving home from training when they spotted the wreck. They weren’t in an ambulance or a rescue truck, reported Fox 4. They were riding in a regular pickup, the kind you’d see at any gas station, with none of the extrication gear they’d normally have on hand. That didn’t stop them from pulling over and getting to work.
Witness video captured the crew jumping into action, working to free at least one person trapped inside a vehicle. According to Fort Worth police, the crash involved multiple vehicles, and thankfully nobody was killed. Some people were taken to the hospital with injuries, but the outcome could have looked a lot worse without extra hands on scene early…
