Event parking switchover trips up downtown St. Louis visitors

For a while now, people arriving late to a concert at Enterprise Center or a game at Busch Stadium have justified their own tardiness by telling themselves some version of, Well, it’s after 7 p.m., so at least I don’t have to pay for parking.

Hours later, many of these very same people return to their cars to find they’ve been ticketed. The violation listed on the ticket is that they parked “contrary to sign.” This leads inevitably to the question: “What sign?”

For three years, the Treasurer’s Office, which controls parking in the City of St. Louis, has offered a great deal on parking around Energizer Park, Busch Stadium, Enterprise Center, and Stifel Theatre—essentially a $5 flat rate for the duration of the event…
