Kansas International Dragway offers legal alternative to street racing

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Street racing continues to be something Wichita police monitor, with officers conducting targeted enforcement efforts throughout the year. But outside the city, drivers are finding a legal place to test their cars and their skills.

Fred Kaufman, one of the racers, said the Kansas International Dragway is a place where drivers can push themselves and their cars in a controlled environment.

“Every time I pull onto the starting line, it all has the same feeling of the knot in your stomach and your mind running through dozens of different thoughts, all within a few seconds,” Kaufman said.
