Boise police clear theater after reports of gunshots; no evidence of shooting found

Boise police and fire responded to a movie theater late Saturday night after multiple callers reported hearing what sounded like gunshots.

On Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at about 10:15 p.m., Boise Police and Boise Fire were dispatched to the 700 block of W. Broad St. for a report of an active shooter after several callers reported hearing gunshot sounds inside the theater.

Officers entered the building and found no evidence of an immediate threat. Police set-up a perimeter, evacuated remaining occupants and cleared each room, investigators said. Authorities ultimately found no evidence of a shooter or shots fired…
