SPOKANE, Wash. – As many are returning to their burnt and destroyed homes, photos of the damage are spreading across social media, with some fake images circulating among them.
Many AI-generated images have ways to tell if they are real, such as layouts of neighborhoods that do not make sense and unrecognizable objects or text. Some generators also put a watermark in the image themselves, however these can be cropped out before posting.
Videos can also be identified in similar ways, with objects in the background that may disappear, or things that aren’t physically possible, the AP reports…
