BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York State Department of Environmental Conversation presented their proposal to the Grand Island Town Board Monday to access property that they identified as an “area of interest” during arial surveying.
During Monday’s Town Board Workshop, Patrick Concannon with the DEC said that the organization would like access to Veteran’s Park on Grand Island, as part of the agency’s ongoing effort to conduct radiological testing throughout WNY.

Concannon said during the meeting that, as far as the DEC is aware, this is the only municipal property that they would like access to on Grand Island at this time.
“Basically, we saw one point on a map in Veteran’s Park; it doesn’t indicate that there’s a problem, it doesn’t indicate that there’s something along the lines of some of the concerns we’ve been addressing elsewhere, it’s simply a location of interest that we’d like to access … try and make sure that we understand better, more specifically, with better detail, what it is we may or may not be seeing.”…
