CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Spectrum officials say fiber optic lines in northeast Charlotte were intentionally cut “in a criminal attack on our critical infrastructure.”
The incident happened early Monday morning, and the attack disrupted service for residents and businesses in the area of Washington Boulevard.
Thefts of fiber optic lines are becoming increasingly common across the country. Officials say the telecommunications industry saw 18,327 attacks in 2025, a 59% increase from 2024. Those who cut these lines are looking for copper inside, but Spectrum’s fiber optic cables do not contain copper…
