(KRON) — A Contra Costa County Superior Court judge sentenced a Pinole man for murdering his ex-girlfriend just 10 days after she ended their relationship. Jeffery Kendall fatally shot Brittany Elizabeth Ligdis in front of their 4-year-old son in 2024 while the victim was on the phone with 911 dispatchers, according to prosecutors.
On Friday, Judge Glenn Kim sentenced Kendall, 39, to serve 50 years-to-life in prison. Kendall was convicted earlier this year of first-degree murder and child endangerment following a jury trial in May.

The 30-year-old victim made a terrifying 911 call when her ex broke into her Summit Drive home on the morning of February 16, 2024.
“A 911 call captured the murder as it unfolded. Brittany Ligdis told dispatchers that Jeffery Kendall had broken into her home and that she was hiding in the laundry room with her son. About 90 seconds into the call, Kendall entered the room,” the District Attorney’s Office wrote.
Ligdis pleaded by telling her ex-boyfriend, “let go of me,” and, “you’re scaring him,” according to the DA’s office. She screamed “stop it,” before Kendall shot her in the head.
The couple’s 4-year-old son cried out “Momma” and fled from the room, prosecutors said. Kendall left the home before responding officers found the victim’s body inside…
