OAKDALE, Ore. (KATU) — A fast-moving vegetation fire driven by dry fuels and strong afternoon winds burned about 6.6 acres Monday in Oakdale, threatening six homes and damaging several outbuildings before firefighters contained it within about two hours.
Southwest Polk Fire District responded at about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 3 to a reported vegetation fire in the 18075 block of Oakdale Road. As the fire spread rapidly after ignition, it was upgraded to a three-alarm wildland fire when multiple homes became threatened.
