BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The trial of a man accused of a deadly shooting five years ago in East Bakersfield was postponed to next week as his attorney is currently engaged in another murder trial.
Court records show the trial of 21-year-old Sonny Veleta was postponed Monday to Aug. 10. He’s charged with murder, attempted robbery and other crimes in the death of Cesar Joseph Malta.
On the night of Aug. 12, 2021, Malta and a passenger drove to East Bakersfield to deliver a baggie of marijuana to someone named “Sonny,” according to testimony at an earlier hearing…
