SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A 20-year-old man was taken to jail after a domestic assault report involving a firearm Monday, Sioux Falls Police said.
Michael Hernandez, of Sioux Falls, was arrested for aggravated domestic assault, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Protection order filed day before Sioux Falls Homicide
According to Sioux Falls Police Sgt. Aaron Benson, an assault between the suspect and the victim who knew each was reported at a residence in the 3000 block of East 17th Street. KELOLAND News was at the scene on Monday afternoon and saw a large number of law enforcement who had responded.
Benson said the victim told police the suspect punched and strangled them and struck them several times with a shotgun while in the residence. The victim was able to leave the house and went to a nearby business, where the police were called…
