The Raleigh Police Department joined residents from across the city Tuesday for National Night Out, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
The annual gatherings came one month after teen takeovers on the Fourth of July in Raleigh that resulted in several people being shot. The incidents occurred as thousands of teens gathered in Brier Creek and Glenwood South.
