Young rhino explores new home at Sedgwick County Zoo

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Zoo announced on Tuesday that a new eastern black rhino has arrived.

Dalia, a 4-year-old female, is part of the black rhino species survival plan.

In the future, she and KJ — the zoo’s male black rhino — are recommended to breed, but both are still maturing. A team at the zoo will plan Dalia and KJ’s introduction and “set them up for success,” the zoo said.

Dalia has been described by her care team as intelligent, curious and eager to participate in training. The zoo said she has been adjusting to her new home well…
