Greenville County spent part of Tuesday night in the dark as nearly 2,900 Duke Energy customers lost power across the area. The utility expected repairs to be completed by noon Wednesday, but the cause of the outage was not immediately clear.
According to FOX Carolina, more than 2,000 customers were affected. The company gave an estimated restoration time of noon Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Cause Of Greenville Outage Remained Unclear
The initial report did not identify what triggered the outage or specify which parts of Greenville County were most affected. Restoration estimates can change as crews assess equipment and work through repairs, so customers were advised to monitor Duke Energy’s outage information for updates.
Duke Energy Offers Outage And Safety Guidance
Duke Energy says customers can report outages through its website or mobile app, by texting OUT to 57801, or by calling 800-769-3766, according to the company’s Carolinas safety guidance. Anyone who encounters a downed or sagging power line should stay away and treat it as energized, while generators should be operated outdoors and according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
