University Boulevard reopens after $7.4M project

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — University Boulevard at Coastal Carolina University has reopened following a months-long $7.4 million roadway improvement project designed to improve traffic flow and safety along the Highway 544 corridor.

The roadway had been closed since May while crews completed the project, which was funded through the Horry County Penny Sales Tax program.

The new four-lane road now routes traffic behind the university’s indoor practice facility to a new traffic signal, replacing the previous signal near Brooks Stadium. The project also added new sidewalks and a pedestrian crosswalk at the Highway 544 entrance to improve safety and accessibility…
