PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is facing charges after police said he drove through a red light, hit a woman at a west Phoenix intersection and drove off Sunday.
According to court documents, Yamin Nameye, 34, was heading west in a Kia Sedona on Camelback Road just east of 43rd Avenue around 2 a.m. when he did not stop for the red light and struck the woman crossing the street on a green walk signal.
The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, including internal bleeding, multiple lower body injuries and fluctuating heart rate and blood pressure. Court documents said she is still in the hospital and it is unclear if she will survive.
Police said Nameye kept going while another driver, who was on the phone with 911, followed him. The witness told the dispatcher Nameye’s license plate. Nameye eventually went south on 59th Avenue and lost the other driver, investigators said…
