Oklahoma City Fire Department names first Black fire chief in department history

OKLAHOMA CITY – Derrick Kiel has been selected as Oklahoma City’s next fire chief, making him the first Black fire chief in the history of the Oklahoma City Fire Department.

City Manager Craig Freeman announced on Thursday that Kiel, who currently serves as deputy chief of Support Services and Logistics, will succeed Chief Richard Kelley.
