A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect across a large swath of the Northeast as potentially damaging storms move into the region.
The National Weather Service issued the watch at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. It remains in effect until 9 p.m. Friday across a heavily populated corridor stretching from the Washington, DC area through Philadelphia and the New York City region.
The watch includes parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, as well as surrounding areas.
