BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Youit Dewitt Jones, 39, was found guilty of capital murder kidnapping Friday, Aug. 7, in the grisly killing and dismemberment of 42-year-old Nathan Gemeinhart.
Jones was charged with Gemeinhart’s murder in August 2022, after Gemeinhart’s body was found with his head and hands removed inside an abandoned home in the 1400 block of Eufaula Avenue in Birmingham. Gemeinhart had been reported missing the previous day, Aug. 8, 2022.
In addition to capital murder, Jones was also found guilty Friday of abuse of a corpse and arson 2nd degree.
Prosecutors used closing arguments Friday morning to urge the jury to convict Jones of capital murder kidnapping, allowing for Jones to possibly be sentenced with the death penalty…
