Staring contest on NYC train leads to rider getting shoved onto subway tracks

A staring contest on an E train erupted in violence Friday when one of the men involved shoved the other onto Manhattan subway tracks, cops said.

The two men were arguing over who stared at who first as the southbound train pulled into the West Fourth Street Station in Greenwich Village station around 9 a.m., according to police.

The victim stepped off the train — but the suspect followed him onto the platform and shoved him onto the tracks after the train pulled away, authorities said.
