NEW YORK (PIX11) — All the heat and humidity are allowing the threat of severe weather to move into the tri-state region on Friday afternoon.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for New York City and surrounding areas through 9 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The main threat will be the potential of damaging winds in excess of 65 mph. A few of the storms could also contain large hail as well.
