Swimmer pulled under by rip current after saving young girl in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A search is underway in Myrtle Beach Friday night after a swimmer who jumped in to rescue a young girl caught in a rip current went missing in the ocean.

Around 7:53 p.m., a young girl was caught in a rip current near 10th Avenue South.

Another swimmer entered the water to help her and was able to get her to safety, but was then pulled underwater by the rip current and has not been located, according to Myrtle Beach police…
