Happy Joe’s First Texas Development Led by Longtime Fan

Jeremy and Elizabeth Aune are Dallas-based franchisees with an entrepreneurial spirit, though restaurant ownership wasn’t something they initially envisioned.

Elizabeth Aune said as much, noting that her husband “isn’t a big food person.” However, there is one exception. Jeremy Aune had grown up around the brand Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream, and became a lifelong fan, remaining passionate about the concept even after he moved away from the company’s footprint.

Jeremy Aune, who spent 20 years in the supply chain industry, reignited his love of the brand one day when he saw Happy Joe’s President Tom Sacco speaking about operations on a Fox Business Channel segment. Already franchising in the education category for seven years with a Goddard School, Jeremy Aune saw an opportunity to expand their portfolio.

“I think franchising gives you support and leaders like Tom,” Jeremy Aune said. “They’ve been great at guiding us through this process. You get that on the front end and on the business operation end. The distribution and recipes are already established, whereas if you try and build something on your own, you have to go through and build that up.”…
