SALEM, OR – Oregonians in 12 counties who lost their federal food assistance in July because of a wildfire evacuation can request replacement benefits until Aug. 14.
As wildfires ravage across Oregon this summer and surpass the state’s wildfire acreage record, the human services department extended the deadline for people receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits whose food was lost or spoiled after fleeing July wildfires.
Households in the following counties have until Aug. 14 to report their food losses to the Oregon Department of Human Services:
- Baker
- Crook
- Deschutes
- Gilliam
- Harney
- Jackson
- Jefferson
- Sherman
- Umatilla
- Union
- Wasco
- Wheeler
