RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A head-on collision in Rutherford County late Thursday night left two people injured, one of whom is being charged in connection with the incident.
The incident took place shortly before 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6 near the intersection of State Route 452 and Mona Road.

A 2021 Toyota Tacoma was allegedly traveling west in an eastbound lane along State Route 452. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, the driver of a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia heading east on State Route 452 saw the Toyota coming towards him at a high rate of speed, so he tried to avoid a crash by swerving.
However, the driver of the Toyota also swerved and hit the Freightliner head-on towards the passenger side, authorities said. Then, both vehicles came to an uncontrolled stop in the road, blocking the eastbound lanes.

The Toyota’s driver — identified by THP as a 34-year-old Tennessee man — was injured in the collision, along with the 43-year-old Florida man driving the Freightliner.
