WORCESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – The Department of Justice is closing its investigation into the Worcester Police Department without taking further action. Federal officials will not sustain prior allegations of misconduct against the department.
The closure follows a federal inquiry that began with a report issued in December 2024. That investigation focused on whether the department engaged in patterns of behavior that violated the constitutional rights of residents.
The federal report from December 2024 alleged that members of the Police Department used excessive force, which would constitute a violation of the Fourth Amendment. Federal investigators also examined claims that officers violated the 14th Amendment.
