Caseyville Village Board Hears Special Use Permit Debacle

The Caseyville Village Board met August 5, 2026 at 7 p.m., all trustees were present.

The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.

During public comment it was discussed how special use permits are non transferable and are only valid for the life of the applicant. Rebecca Take complained a business license had been issued to Holmes Trucking and Excavating LLC inappropriately via a transferred special use permit to someone who did not live on the property. Evidence was provided by the resident in the form of business license records, special use permit applications and court testimony, and she claimed that this action was equivalent to subletting which is not allowed and that their business license should be revoked. Her findings were corroborated by the findings of an integrity officer. Take went on to say that the property in question for the special use permit had illegal amounts of diesel fuel stored there, over 1,500 gallons, and that the fuel was conveniently missed upon more than one village inspection…
