Iowa family donates $5 million to Cincinnati Children’s for tuberous sclerosis research

CINCINNATI (WKRC) — An Iowa family whose daughter has received specialized care at Cincinnati Children’s is donating $5 million to accelerate research into the rare genetic disorder she was diagnosed with before birth.

The Clausen family of Storm Lake, Iowa, made the gift to launch a multi-year research initiative focused on tuberous sclerosis complex, or TSC. Cincinnati Children’s said the funding will allow researchers to pursue personalized treatments and promising discoveries without waiting for additional funding.
