Big Lick Comic Con Brings Cosplay, Celebrities, and Collectibles to Roanoke’s Berglund Center

Big Lick Comic Con opened its doors Saturday morning at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, launching a two-day event that draws pop-culture fans from across the region. The show runs through Sunday, August 9, featuring exhibitors, artists, panel discussions, autograph sessions, and gaming vendors.

Single-day admission is around $30, according to WDBJ. Children 12 and under get in free. Celebrator Weekend Pass holders were able to enter Saturday an hour early, at 10 a.m., while general doors opened at 11 a.m.

Star-Studded Guest Lineup

The event’s celebrity roster is one of the most varied in the show’s history, according to WDBJ. Actors Jessie T. Usher and Laz Alonso, both known for the Amazon series The Boys, are scheduled to appear. Stars from Hallmark’s Good Witch will gather for what organizers describe as the first-ever reunion of that cast at Big Lick Comic Con.

Patrick Labyorteaux and Catherine Bell, co-stars of the long-running series JAG, are also on the guest list. Labyorteaux is additionally known for Little House on the Prairie and NCIS. Professional wrestlers Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Lex Luger, and Ron Simmons round out the celebrity appearances.

Cosplay and the Show Floor

On the exhibit floor, vendors fill the space with comic bins, trading cards, and collectibles of all kinds. WDBJ spoke with attendee Nate, who cosplayed alongside a friend as characters from the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
