FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Whether from the city or the county, at least four times this year, WANE 15 has covered local bodies creating rules, punishments, and releasing warnings over using powered bikes on city and county trails.

Still in August, the city is battling the issue specifically with electric bicycles on the trails.
“Unfortunately, we have been seeing a proliferation of these e-motorcycles and electric motorcycles and electric dirt bikes,” said Dawn Ritchie, Fort Wayne’s Greenways Manager.
Ritchie came on WANE 15’s morning show on Sunday to remind the public of the rules set earlier in the year.
“They’ve got a lot of power, and they go really, really fast. So they sneak up on other trail users so quickly because they are going so fast. So it’s just, you know, most of our trails are eight to 10 feet wide, so there’s barely enough room for two-way traffic on these trails,” Ritchie said…
