Heat index values expected to approach 100 degrees in NYC

NEW YORK (PIX11) — All of New York City, Long Island, northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley are expected to be hit with intense heat to start the week.

The National Weather Service issued heat advisories for most of the tri-state area as heat index values are predicted to approach 100 degrees on Monday.

Heat advisories are issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make the temperature feel like anywhere between 95 and 99 degrees for two or more days in a row, or 100 to 104 at any time.
