San Diego is waking up Sunday under mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures around 72 degrees near downtown and a humid feel in the air. The clouds should give way to a partly sunny afternoon topping out near 81, while a noticeably cooler pattern takes hold across the region from Tuesday onward.
Coastal Clouds Clear For A Mild Afternoon
Patchy low clouds and fog may linger along the coast through the early morning before scattering around 9 a.m. Sunday. West winds will run about 5 to 10 mph, and the chance of rain in the city is only 5%, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday should look similar, with partly sunny skies and a high near 81, followed by Tuesday’s high around 80. Nights will remain mild, with lows near 69 or 70, so the coast may not get much overnight relief from the sticky conditions.
Heat Alerts Focus On Inland Areas
The National Weather Service has a Heat Advisory in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday for San Diego County valleys and mountains, while an Extreme Heat Warning covers the county deserts.
