Michelle Jones was driving northbound on Goodfellow Boulevard in an industrial stretch of North City on July 15 when she saw a curious sight. A heavy equipment operator, Jones has worked for the city’s Streets Department for nine years. But she’d never seen anything like this: A driver who’d stopped his Tesla in the middle of the street and seemed to be placing a child’s car seat down on the pavement.
Jones immediately switched into prayer mode: “Dear God, don’t let this be what I think it is.” Then she saw the little feet of the baby in the car seat, and her worst fears were confirmed. The man hadn’t set a seat down in the middle of the street. He had set down a seat with a baby.
