COLUMBUS, Ohio — A for-profit college with campuses in Brecksville, Maumee and Toledo has agreed to pay just over $1 million to the U.S. Department of Education and a whistleblower to settle allegations that the schools inflated graduation rates and didn’t return federal student aid.
Furthermore, American Higher Education Development Corp. (AHED), which owns Stautzenberger College in Ohio, will pay the whistleblower’s reasonable attorney and court costs.
Christopher Wargo, AHED’s former chief operating and compliance officer, brought the suit, filed Dec. 14, 2023 in federal court in Pennsylvania – two months after resigning from the company, which is headquartered in the Philadelphia suburbs…
