NCSHP seeks information on 2 fatal hit-and-runs

ROBESON COUNTY — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s assistance with two hit-and-run collisions that resulted in fatalities.

On Sept. 24, 2025, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated a hit-and-run collision that resulted in a fatality. The collision occurred on Mt. Zion Church Road, west of Red Springs. Upon arrival, a deceased pedestrian was located lying in the southbound lane in the roadway. The pedestrian was identified as Gary Brayboy of Pembroke. The investigation revealed that an unknown vehicle was traveling south on Mt. Zion Church Road around 5:39 a.m. that morning and struck Brayboy in the roadway. After impact, the vehicle fled the scene. The vehicle description with any resulting damage is unknown.
