The 911 Consolidation Taskforce voted to build a nine-member governing board for a joint public safety answering point between Fayetteville and Cumberland County. According to a release from the city, representatives from the City Council and Board of Commissioners met on Monday, Aug. 3, to push plans ahead for an interlocal agreement that would establish the shared emergency dispatch center.
Mayor Mitch Colvin, Mayor Pro Tem Derrick Thompson, and council member Deno Hondros represented the city. Chairman Kirk deViere, vice chair Veronica Jones, and commissioner Henry Tyson attended for the county.
The proposed governing board will have three representatives from both governments, one Fort Bragg representative, and two non-voting managers.
