LUBBOCK, Texas — Roberto Leal, 67, was arrested and accused of stabbing a man multiple times in Central Lubbock, according to recently obtained court documents.
Court records said on August 6, officers were called to the 4300 block of 30th Street for a disturbance. Court records said the victim had stab wounds on his bicep and upper rib area. After the victim was taken to the hospital, police went to the 4300 block of 31st Street to locate the suspect.

They asked two men inside the residence to exit the home, but only one came out. The man told police that Leal was scared and did not want to come out. The man told police he had walked to McDonald’s and when he got back, he saw Leal, the victim and another person hanging out in the driveway. The man said he went inside and a few minutes later, Leal told him that he had stabbed the victim. The man said Leal told him that he believed the victim had a gun and was going to kill him, court records said.

Court records stated Leal admitted to stabbing the victim with a butcher-style handle knife after a verbal altercation. Leal told detectives he placed the knife on a chair after the stabbing. According to court documents, Leal told police he had no intention of killing the victim. Court records said both the suspect and victim had been drinking and possibly using narcotics.
Leal was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. As of Monday, he remained at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond…
