Red Cross blood crisis: Oregon donors urgently needed in August

PORTLAND, Ore. – The American Red Cross is calling for blood donors of all types to schedule appointments immediately as the national blood crisis continues.

According to the American Red Cross, just three additional donors at every blood drive could help stabilize the blood supply and ensure patients keep receiving lifesaving care. The organization issued only the second blood crisis in Red Cross history in late July.

Thousands of donors have stepped up since the crisis was declared. However, the blood supply remains under severe pressure as communities transition to back-to-school schedules and people enjoy final summer plans…
