The City of Irondale has added 10 new Ford Police Interceptor Utility Hybrid vehicles to the Irondale Police Department’s fleet in a $675,000 investment.
Four of the cruisers will be used by School Resource Officers and six will be assigned to patrol. The vehicles have been received and are being deployed.
The purchase, financed through a municipal lease, averages about $67,500 per vehicle and allows the city to update the fleet at once rather than replacing vehicles individually as funding becomes available.
The four SRO cruisers will also feature designs created by Irondale students. The city is holding art contests at each of its four schools, with the winning design from each school used on its assigned cruiser…
