Botetourt County Planning Commission split on water pipeline permit amid Google data center concerns

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Dozens of Botetourt County residents packed the county administration building Monday afternoon as local leaders split on a controversial water line permit request.

The Western Virginia Water Authority is seeking approval for a nearly 4,000-foot pipeline project. While authority officials say the project is designed to help local families, skeptical residents worry the infrastructure is actually meant to support a proposed Google data center.
