As 6th grader Ariana Urbina walked through the doors of Metairie’s new Bunche-Washington STEM school campus for the first time Friday, the ardent reader gaped at the fully stocked bookshelves lining the school’s entryway.
Urbina, who attended the old Bunche school before it merged with Washington Elementary, said she was initially taken aback by the size of the new campus, which can house over 700 students. But she quickly got over the size of the school to focus on its brand-new amenities she and her classmates will have access to – including all those books.
“I really like learning new stuff,” Urbina said.
