Relief For Warm Springs’ Farm Animals, One Bouquet At A Time

As the Bench Fire surpassed 67,000 acres this past Sunday, the smoke from the Warm Springs reservation’s burning brush and timber hovered far from the forested region of Eugene’s South Hills area, more than three hours’ drive away.

At the Lox, Stocks & Bagels eatery, the doors frequently open and release the savory aroma of garlic, onion and asiago cheese as patrons come and go for their morning nourishment.

This past Sunday morning, dahlias, eukomis, hydrangeas and other flowers complemented the usual scents as volunteer fundraiser Lisa Smolenska hastily set up a stand with donated bouquets from Charles Little Flower Farm near Mount Pisgah…
