Ex-NYPD cop attacked handcuffed man in jail cell: DA

CARROLL GARDENS, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A former police detective is accused of attacking a cuffed man inside the holding cell in a Brooklyn Precinct, according to officials.

Raymond Ng, 51, an NYPD detective at the time, is facing multiple charges of assault and official misconduct, among others.

“We expect our police personnel to carry themselves with integrity and respect for others, even when provoked, said Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. “ This defendant allegedly failed that duty and violently attacked a handcuffed and helpless prisoner inside a police precinct.”

In Jan. 2026, a 49-year-old man with no prior convictions was told by an NYPD detective to come to the 76th Precinct to surrender on an alleged assault, according to investigators. The detective was not available at the time, and Ng ended up processing the arrest and handcuffing the man…
