HAINES CITY, Fla. — Polk County’s rapid growth is already creating new challenges this school year.
Five elementary schools on the county’s northeast side are relying heavily on portable classrooms as they deal with overcrowding. The schools include Davenport, Loughman Oaks, Horizons, Laurel and Sandhill elementary schools, which officials say are 39% over capacity.
