A Union man is accused of assaulting a police officer with handcuffs in Elizabeth on Sunday during an attempted arrest after he allegedly tried to use counterfeit money at an Applebee’s, officials said.
Police responded to the Applebee’s at The Mills at Jersey Gardens around 7:17 p.m., according to Ruby Contreras, a spokesperson for the City of Elizabeth.
