Here’s what Fort Worth homeowners could pay in property taxes next year

Fort Worth homeowners could pay less in city property taxes in 2027 under the city’s proposed budget, city manager Jay Chapa explained to City Council members during a work session meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The city is facing a $76.8 million budget shortfall, driven by appraisal values that came in even lower than expected.

The recommended tax rate for the 2027 fiscal year is 70.2 cents per $100 of value, an increase of 3.2 cents from the current rate of 67 cents. The owner of a $335,000 home with a homestead exemption would pay $1,881.36…
