8-year-old Texas boy dies after near-drowning at Lake Texoma

BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — An 8-year-old boy from Texas who was involved in a near-drowning incident at Lake Texoma on Saturday has died from his injuries.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, just before 4 p.m. on August 8, the boy had jumped into the water of Lake Texoma without a life jacket before he made his way underneath a dock and panicked.

A nearby bystander rescued the boy, pulling him out of the water and immediately performed CPR before EMS arrived and transported him to Alliance Health in Durant, where he was then flown to Children’s Health in Dallas, Texas, where he was listed as stable.

On Monday, officials reported that the 8-year-old boy died at Children’s Health on Sunday from his injuries…
