NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Two teenagers were arrested following a vehicle pursuit in the French Quarter on Monday, Aug. 10.
According to the Louisiana State Police, they were notified of a stolen Hyundai reportedly occupied by armed suspects wearing ski masks near the French Quarter. Troopers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading troopers on a pursuit through the French Quarter.

The pursuit ended on Marais Street when the Hyundai struck the side of an apartment building. LSP officials said the driver and passenger then fled on foot. The passenger, a 16-year-old, was apprehended, while the driver allegedly continued fleeing on foot, armed with an AR-style pistol, according to the LSP.
LSP troopers and the New Orleans Police Department officers established a perimeter around the area, and NOPD Special Operations Division and K-9 units began a search for the driver. A K-9 unit located the 16-year-old driver hiding beneath a residence near Esplanade Avenue and was taken into custody. An AR-style pistol was recovered and was deemed to have been stolen, according to the LSP.
Both teenagers were transported to a local hospital, then were booked into the Orleans Juvenile Detention Center on respective charges, including aggravated flight from an officer, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of stolen things over $10,000, illegal carrying of a firearm during a crime of violence, juvenile possession of a firearm, three counts of hit-and-run driving and facial disguises in public places…
