Tropical depression likely to form this week as Atlantic disturbance strengthens

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The National Hurricane Center is watching an area of low pressure in the central tropical Atlantic that is increasingly likely to become a tropical depression later this week.

As of the NHC’s Tuesday morning outlook, the system was located about 500 miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Shower and thunderstorm activity remained limited Tuesday morning, but forecasters said environmental conditions are expected to become more favorable for development during the next couple of days…
